Moriwi is a rural settlement in Imeko-Afo Local Government area of Ogun State, Nigeria. It is approximately 135 km from Lagos and approximately 122 km from Ibadan.
It shares border with a Benin Republic. Other villages in the Moriwi neighbourhood include Olorunda, Oha, Waasimi.
The inhabitants are predominantly peasant farmers, with a few others who engage in hunting, carpentry and other petty trades.
The villages most of which do not have schools, hospitals, clean drinking water, good roads, and electricity, are linked with foot paths, passable only with motorbikes.
Due to the naivety and uneducated minds of the populace, birth rate is on the high side with an average of 6 children per woman. Early marriages are also common.
It is the non-availability of potable water that prompted the Hope Renewed Ministries which is based in the United States to collaborate with FABREC and CACSA in providing clean bore hole water, medical aids to two of the communities. Writing materials were also provided to the only grammar in the area .
Hope Renewed Ministries is a ministry based in the United States and headed by Pastor Yinka Adeyemo and supported by his wife Mrs Dunni Adeyemo. It seeks to provide succour and make life more meaningful and bearable to the less privileged. Its slogan reads: ‘bringing hope to doorstep of the needy’
FABREC is an NGO based in Ekiti State of Nigeria and headed by Pastor Tope Adeyemo PhD. It focuses on assisting the vulnerable groups in the society.
CACSA is the evangelical arm of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria. Its main purpose is to take the gospel mainly to the youths and everyone in general.
It was during one of the evangelical outreaches of CACSA that the pitiable, far below average living condition of the people of Moriwi area was discovered . CACSA even started a secondary school in one of the villages and ran it for a while before handing it over to the State government, and thank God the school is still very much functioning today.
The Hope Renewed Ministries, who are the main financier of this outreach, came into the country on 11th March, 2018.
The FABREC/CACSA team (Pastor Tope Adeyemo, Dr. Bode Akintoye, Mr. Dele, Sergent Gbenga and Evangelist Victor) came into Lagos on Sunday and went to the Lagos International Airport to pick up the Hope Renewed Ministries’ team.
We all drove down to Magboro area in Mowe/Ibafo where we lodged in an hotel for the day after being hosted by Mr. Isaac Ayo Adunmati a night befor, 3/12/18 Monday, which also gave us opportunity, not only to bound as a team, it also gave us the privilege to map out our strteges and also get ready for the task God has commited to our hands. It also give us the opportunity to sort out the medical and other relief materials to be used for the outreach.
On Tuesday 13th, we all converged at Magboro from where we took off as early as 6 a.m. to Moriwi. It was a long journey and a bit rough too due to the bad roads we had to travel through.
We were joined by other members of CACSA at Moriwi- Pastor Oyedepo, Pastor David Suberu (the Director of Evangelism of CACSA), Elder Akinwehinmi, and resident the Pastors and leaders of Moriwi community.
